Frequently Asked Questions

Who is behind MacMost?
Gary Rosenzweig is the founder, producer and host of MacMost. He has written more than 40 mass-market books on computers, including the best-selling My iPad series. In addition, he develops mobile and web-based games. He has dual background of computer science and journalism with degrees in both. You can read more about him here.

What software do you use to record the MacMost Now video podcast?
Over the years I have used a variety of methods. Most of the videos today are recorded simply using the QuickTime Player app you already have on your Mac. In the past I have used ScreenFlow which is a good capture-and-edit tool. For even more complex needs, you can use Wirecast, by the same company, which I used for most of the first 500 episodes of MacMost Now.

You talk too fast in your videos. Can you slow down?
Nope. The way you see me (Gary) in my videos is the way I really talk. I am enthusiastic about technology and I think it shows in the videos. I do not try to slow myself down or alter how I talk in the videos. I just try to be myself. I know I can’t please everyone all the time, so no matter how I did the videos there would be a few complaints. But I know that if I tried to tone down my enthusiasm or be someone other than who I am, then there’s no way I would have made this many episodes over many years. I do provide transcripts for each video, which usually appear a few days after the video is posted.

How did you create the introduction to the MacMost Now videos (episode 767 or earlier)?
The introduction where pictures of different Apple products fly by is simply the Cover Flow view of the Finder. Just place a collection of images in a folder and then view that folder in Cover Flow mode, as opposed to icons, list or column view. Then use any screen capture technique to capture you scrolling through the items.

Can I get a MacMost t-shirt?
Yes. You can order them from the same place we order them, in fact.
